The Mosquitoes of Querétaro, Mexico: Distribution, Ecology, and Discovery of Shannoniana huasteca n. sp. (Diptera: Culicidae)

In order to document the diversity and distribution of mosquitoes inhabiting Querétaro State México, collection trips were conducted in all physiographic regions sub-regions state (Sierra Madre Oriental, Central Plateau, Neo-Volcanic Axis). addition, mosquito specimens collected deposited Collection Arthropods Medical Importance (CAIM) re-examined. A total 2718 (570 larvae, 384 larval exuviae, 537 pupal 30 pupae, 807 females, 368 males, 22 male genitalia) analyzed. total, 2 subfamilies, namely Anophelinae Culicinae, 5 tribes, 12 genera, 20 subgenera, 50 species found. Of these, 3 8 11 33 are new records for fauna Querétaro. Two undescribed found, one them, Shannoniana huasteca Ortega n. sp., is described here using morphology Cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (COI) DNA barcoding.
